About Reverend Jeffrey Goeckner
The Very Reverend Jeffrey Goeckner, VF was appointed Father McGivney Catholic High School’s first school President in December of 2015 by the Board of Directors, with the full approval of the bishop of the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois. Father Goeckner, who serves as the school’s Chaplain, is a member of the Father McGivney Catholic High School Founders Board, the Executive Board and the Board of Directors.
Father Goeckner is the pastor of St. Boniface Parish in Edwardsville, (2007 – present) as well as the Dean of the Alton Deanery (2010- present). He is a native of Bishop Creek, Illinois and a graduate of Teutopolis High School, Teutopolis Illinois. He is a 1991 graduate of Saint Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad, Indiana and a 1995 graduate of Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein Illinois. Fr. Goeckner was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Springfield in May of 1995. His previous assignments include: Parochial Vicar for Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and Campus Minister, Chaplain and faculty member at Saint Teresa High School, Decatur, Illinois (1995-2001) Pastor of Saint Elizabeth Parish, Chaplain for the Robinson Illinois Correctional Center, Robinson, Illinois and Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes, Oblong, Illinois (2001-2004), Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish and faculty member of Saint Anthony High School, Effingham, Illinois (2004-2006). Pastoral Studies at the University of Loyal, Chicago, Illinois (2006) Parochial Administrator for St. Brigid Parish, Liberty Illinois and St. Thomas Parish, Cam Point, Illinois (2007). Over the years, Fr. Goeckner has served on the Diocesan Presbyterial Council, College of Consulters, Priest’s Personnel Board, and the Commission for Renovation and Restoration of Churches and Chapels and as an Episcopal Master of Ceremonies. He is a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus.
Fr. Jeff, who grew up on the family farm Bishop Creek, Illinois, is the son of Harold and Jane (Weber) Goeckner who are both retired. Fr. Jeff is the oldest of eight children with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, vegetable gardening, genealogy, reading, traveling with friends, Notre Dame Football, Chicago Cubs baseball and watching Father McGivney Catholic High School continue to grow!
