McGivney Remembers Brandon Ahring

On Wednesday, April 16th, Brandon Ahring, McGivney alumnus and Assistant Cross Country Track and Field Coach, tragically lost his life in a car accident while returning home from Track & Field practice.

FMCHS Principal Joe Lombardi had the following words to share with the McGivney community regarding this tragic loss of Brandon:

"I write to you today with a heavy heart and deep sorrow. Brandon was a proud alumnus of the Father McGivney Class of 2021, where he competed in both Cross Country and Track and Field. His passion for the sport and love for our school brought him back to serve as an Assistant Coach for the past three years, working closely under the guidance of Head Coach Jim Helton. Brandon quickly grew into a confident, inspirational coach—one who made a lasting impression on our athletes through his quiet strength, encouragement, and unwavering kindness.

Among the many blessings in Brandon’s life, one of his greatest joys was the opportunity to coach his younger brother, Tyler, over these past three years. Brandon was a humble young man, but he took tremendous pride in Tyler, who is currently a senior at Father McGivney Catholic High School. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his deep faith guided his actions each and every day. Brandon lived a life of service, compassion, and kindness—a life that reflected the teachings of Jesus in the most authentic way.

Brandon touched countless lives. His warm smile, generous heart, and gentle spirit will be missed more than words can express.  Please keep his parents and brother in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time."

On Monday, April 21st, McGivney will host its first home track meet on the new Track & Field.  Plans include a blessing of the new Track & Field at 3:45 p.m., followed by the track meet.  At approximately 7 p.m., a prayer vigil will be held to honor Brandon Ahring. He loved coaching our athletes and loved McGivney, and this will be a wonderful way to honor his memory.  Please join us so we can remember him as a community.
