Katie Harris

Katie Harris graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Science. She grew up in the Alton/Godfrey area where her teaching career began at Ss. Peter and Paul in Alton. SSPP is where she attended grade school and where she currently is an active member in the parish. She taught at SSPP for 8 years alongside her mother.  When SSPP closed in 2019, she became a part of the McGivney Family.  She currently teaches AP Biology and Freshman Biology.  She was the first coach of the McGivney softball team and coached for 3 years, two of those years with her dad. Mrs. Harris, formerly Lyons, recently got married to her husband Ray in December of 2023. She enjoys reading, bullet journaling, and hikes with her husband. She is so happy to be a part of the McGivney Family. Go Griffins!

Katie has taught Middle School Science at Ss. Peter and Paul in Alton for the past 8 years. She is adept at technology and uses a wide variety of hands-on learning techniques to engage her students in the learning process. She has coached Girls’ Volleyball, served as their Athletic Director and set up a Science Fair competition during her tenure at Ss. Peter and Paul. She is a graduate of Marquette High School and received her B.S. in Education at Eastern Illinois University.
