Growing up in Madison, Mrs. Garland developed a passion for the arts. Mrs. Garland began peforming in the Alton Civic Orchestra and SIUE Orchestra as an oboist throughout high school and college. While attending SIUE, Mrs. Garland also performed in the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra. Transferring to the University of Texas she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music. After teaching in Madison and Granite City, she earned a Masters in Administration from SIUE. Mrs. Garland went on to be a principal in Collinsville, assistant principal at Edwardsville High School and a principal in Granite City. Along the Mrs. Garland also published childern's books. Following a passion for the arts, Mrs. Garland is most pround of her daughter Julia, who also followed her passion in the arts. Julia is a graduate of Drury Univeristy and now pursues her career as an actor, comedian and martial artist. Mrs. Garland is happily married to Behind the Wheel Instructor, Mr. Mike Garland and is honored to join the Father McGivney staff.
