STUDENT LIFE
Nothing matters more to the success of Father McGivney Catholic High School than the students. We believe in developing our students in mind, body and spirit. We see each student as an individual, and we try to provide them with plenty of opportunities to find their niche and truly soar!
Mind
Exceptional academics are a priority at Father McGivney Catholic High School. McGivney offers Honors and College Preparatory classes in all disciplines. Many students will be on track to qualify for Advanced Placement (AP) courses as juniors and seniors, and dual credit courses will be offered through St. Louis University. McGivney’s demanding curriculum, highly-qualified faculty and progressive technology are a great combination for students who really want to be ready for college and for LIFE!
Body
With 14 IHSA sports and more than 25 different clubs, students are able to find their niche at FMCHS to flourish and grow. From the performing arts and science club to joining a sport, students are invited to engage fully and find activities that both round out their high school experience and make them feel complete. Check out the growing list of activities. https://mcgivneygriffins.com/clubs-extracurriculars
In addition to clubs and extra curriculars, our sports teams in nearly every sport are now consistently winning conference championships, winning regionals, and advancing to sectionals. Our athletes are steadily breaking records and have an eye on the state contests. We had several athletes compete at the state level both as individuals and teams. For our students desiring to grow their athletic abilities, our coaches are prepared to mentor and guide them to reach their full potential. Spirit
Each day, students meet with their “House.” Each House is made up of a cross-section of students from each grade level, which allows for the opportunity to mentor one another in an environment that breaks down barriers. The students in our Houses pray, celebrate Mass, serve the community, and even engage in some friendly competition together. These opportunities help to strengthen the bonds within each group. If you’re an underclassman, you automatically have friends/mentors from students in the upper grades to guide you through your studies, struggles, and successes. The Houses enjoy friendly competition with each other for achievements in service, leadership, and academics.
Always available to students – for daily morning prayer service before school starts or quiet prayer throughout the day – is our beautiful chapel. The McGivney motto – Serving the Culture of Life – is practiced within every discipline of study and activity at McGivney. Students can look forward to serving their parish, community, country, and world with the knowledge and spiritual strength that sets them apart as a McGivney student.
It is our hope that every student at the McGivney will find their niche and soar like a Griffin to reach their full potential, all while living the faith and striving toward sainthood!
